New Discoveries

This is what I found when I took Griffin out of the car last week. Some how his flip flop came off and it was in his hand! I'm not sure how this happened but I thought it was too cute...he was holding onto it like he didn't want to lose it.

Then he picked up his rattle a few days later! We're still working on shaking it once he picks it up, but he has started to try and put it in his mouth. Obviously the ball is pretty good sized, so he now has different rattles he tries.

This is pretty exciting! Last week the pediatrician told me that starting at 3 months I could put him in his Bumbo seat and work on him sitting up. Well, I thought that since he has been doing so well supporting his own head, I would try it out a little early. He did awesome! Literally he sat in his seat for 15 minutes and smiled, talked and played with his toys. Look how big he is!

I know I post a lot of tummy time pictures, but I just love his little face here! It shows how strong he is getting. He's almost able to turn onto his back all by himself. A couple nights ago, I was putting lotion on his back (he was laying on his changing pad, on his tummy) and he started to roll over! I quickly placed my arm near the wall so he wouldn't bop into it. I think the curve on the changing pad stopped him. I bet it won't be long!

2 Months Old

Griffin in 2 months old today! Again, he's growing so fast and when I walked into the room at the pediatrician's office today, the nurse said, "Geez, I thought Griffin was only 2 months not 6 months!" I feel like everyday someone is telling me he looks like a 5 or 6 month old, I just laugh it off. I'm not sure how I feel when everyone tells me how big he is. I feel like everyone is rushing his "babyness" out of him. I wish he could stay a baby forever!

Here are his new stats:

weight: 14 lbs. 1.9 oz (91st percentile)
length: 24.75 in (94th percentile)
head circumference: 16.04 (68th percentile)
  • Just over the last couple of weeks, Griffin has done so well holding his head up all by himself. During tummy time, he will push himself up and lock his elbows, while looking all around.
  • His neck is still improving each day. I feel as if I am not repositioning him quite as frequently as I have been.
  • Recently, I started placing rattles and toys in his hands, working on his grasp and he will grip onto them and bang them for a couple of seconds. It seems as though he does better with his left hand right now, so we'll see if he will be a lefty or a righty.
  • The smiles are becoming more frequent and he has been "talking" a lot more!
Another smile!

Waiting for the doctor.

Father's Day Weekend

The weekend started off with a visit to see Daddy at work on Friday afternoon. Grif and I were in the area and we called Tanner to drop by. He said it was a good surprise!

Sunday we spent the day hanging out at my parent's pool. What a great day and to top it all off, my mom bought Griffin his first pool raft. Luckily he loved it; it's just another thing that makes taking a baby to the pool that much easier. Thanks Mom!

Tummy Time and More Smiles

Griffin is doing so much better with tummy time and his neck! I continue to work with him a lot in between naps...I really wish this torticollis thing would just disappear. It's causing me a lot of stress! He is getting so strong; he can pretty much hold his head up all on his own. At least for a few minutes at a time, then he'll rest it for a second and then go back for more. I guess all of the tummy time is paying off.

The smiles are still coming and the laughs are occasionally accompanying them. It seems like whenever we get the camera out to take smiling pictures he stops...errrr. He better get used to smiling at the camera, because he has a lot of photo sessions coming up. Here are a couple of smiles that we caught.

Well, it's kind of a smile.

Here's a big one! This is what happens when Daddy comes home for lunch.

Baby Smiles!

So how could I forget??? When I posted yesterday, I don't know how I forgot, but it slipped my mind that we have baby smiles now! Just last week he started to smile and now, this is what we get quite frequently. Enjoy them!

6 Week Update

Now, 6 weeks have flown by and our little boy is becoming quite the BIG boy! I took him back to the doctor today for his ear check-up. Thankfully his ear infections are all cleared up and his neck is becoming less stiff. I think all of the stretching has paid off. However, I did talk to the nurse practitioner about reflux and she agrees that he has it. Therefore, back to the meds! Poor little guy has been on so many meds already. Boo!

Now, for his weight total...drum roll please...12 lbs. 13.6 oz! If you remember back just 2 weeks ago, he weighed 11 lbs. 7.5 oz., yes, he put on just about a pound and a half in this short amount of time. I'm anxious to see how long he is now. He is hardly fitting into his Swaddle Me's anymore and I swear his hands are now the size of a 2 or 3 year old's. His feet too; the other day I put a size 0 shoe on him and it fit perfectly, then the very next day, I put the same shoe on him and it was too small! Hmmmm...interesting! So today I thought he needed another pair of shoes so we go to the store and I put a size 2 on him and it fit just a little too big, so my guess is that next week he will be in a size 2. Sheesh!
