3rd Annual Yard Olympics

Saturday, we hosted our 3rd Annual Yard Olympics.  We woke up to a thunderstorm so we were a bit nervous that we would actually have to come up with plan B.  However, the storm cleared away, then it was quite windy, and ended up being nothing but hot, still air.  It was crazy hot, but all in all, it was a great time.

Fearless Friday

Grif and I went up to Debbie Howard's again for open gym.  There were a lot more kids there this time and a lot of his friends were there too.  He walked right in and began playing.  (It was as if he remembered it from the last time.)  He went right to the slide and started climbing up it.  Crazy kid!  Then found an obstacle course and became fearless.  He was crawling up the ramps and rolling over all of the mats.  He had a lot of fun and left there pooped!

Gymboree Wednesday

Griffin is doing better at Gymboree when it comes to being more outgoing; however, he seems to be afraid of a lot.  He doesn't want to play on the obstacle courses, play with the parachute, or the tunnels, but he does want to play with all of the balls.  He walks in the door and immediately goes to the bucket of balls and starts saying, "bah, bah" and points.  It's progress, I guess.

Tuesday Morning

Yesterday I had to go to work for awhile so Griffin went to his Grandma Stacy's for the day.  When Tanner brought him home, he was so cuddly and sweet!  I could definitely tell he missed me.  So today, I was hoping for the same thing, but nope...he's back to his normal self; into everything!  After our walk, we were playing with some toys and he decided to take the basketball around.  The ball rolled under the kitchen table and he tried his hardest to get it.  Then he got stuck in one of the chairs.  Ha!  He had a great time.

Saturday Air Day

Saturday, we took Griffin to the Johnson County Executive Airport for an airshow.  At first Griffin didn't really like the noise from the helicopters, but then realized that they were okay.  After a few helicopters went up and down, he started to point and say, "uhhh!".  He was very intrigued by the planes too.  What a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Open Gym

Yesterday I got a text from a coworker, Kristy about meeting her up at Debbie Howard's for open gym time.  She told me it was from 9-12.  My initial reaction was, well that is right in the middle of nap time, so we will most likely not go...but thanks for the invite.  Then, I began thinking more about it...why, not???  I bet he would be fine to stretch out his nap a little and put him down about 10:00 or so.  Well that's what we did.  Griffin and I headed up there at 9:00, right when it opened and stayed just an hour.  It was a lot of fun and Grif did so well.  He was very intrigued with all of the equipment and we even met Erica, Bridget and Emee there too!  What a great "play date"! 

There are so many fun ideas for kids that are during this same time, we may just have to venture out more often.

Music Time!

Everyday, Griffin and I have "Music Time".  I typically turn on one of the music channels, on the TV and we dance around the house.  This weekend I saw in the Target ad, a musical drum with rattles and other fun shaker things, so this morning Grif and I headed up to Target and bought it.  Today's music time was A LOT more fun!

Gymboree

We just got home from Gymboree and Grif seemed to enjoy it.  He was quite shy and timid at first, but then he started to get the hang of it.  The first 30 min of the class is free explore time.  They have balls, mats, slides, sound makers, etc for the kids to play with.  All of the other kids have been there before so they knew what to do; Grif on the other hand sat back for the first 15 min and just watched the other kids.  Once he started to feel comfortable, then he fit right in with the rest.  The last 15 min is parachute and bubble time.  Grif sat on my lap, like he was supposed to, and watched everyone.  It was so cute to see him sit and listen to everything going on.

There were 4 other boys and another girl all about the same age as Griffin.  I would say he was the most "shy" but I am okay with that; at least he was well behaved!  There was one boy that was biting, kicking and hitting other kids.  Yikes!  I'm so glad Griffin was not picked on.  I don't know what I would've done.  The other moms were a lot more laid back about it than I think I would've been.
