Ali's Pregnant!!!

Just after coming home from work on Thursday, August 13th, Tanner and I carried on with our evening. We had to go to the grocery store so while there, I had Tanner pick up a pregnancy test for me, (I don't know why, but I am a bit nervous purchasing one) since I had a sneaky suspicion I was pregnant. We got home and I rushed right upstairs to do my thing, while Tan started putting the groceries away. Immediately, I saw a plus sign but didn't think much of it so I went downstairs to help Tan put the rest of the groceries away. Upon completion, I ran back upstairs and checked the stick. A bit confused, I walked it downstairs and told Tanner, "I'm not quite sure what to think of this???". His response was, "Ummmm...you're pregnant!" Still confused, I was speechless! I got a bit teary-eyed and just looked at the stick, Tanner, stick, Tanner...

After we sat on the couch pondering this, we decided to go on a walk. The conversation was much different than any other walk we have ever been on (as you can imagine). Once we got home I went to check the stick again...still positive! I'm sure most other women in my situation did this same thing...I started to doubt the test. I told Tanner that I may want to take another one. He insisted I was pregnant and thought I was silly to want to take another. So I listened to him and actually waited, but not for long. I ended up taking a second test the very next day, Friday, August 14th, still the same response...+. Yay! I felt a little more at ease this time but not completely satisfied. The next morning we needed to run some errands so I thought we should stop by the store and pick up another test but this time I wanted a test that clearly said "pregnant". So we drove to Walgreen's and picked up another test. I couldn't run inside the house fast enough and up the stairs to take the test. I took the digital test and it again immediately said "pregnant". I didn't even have to wait for the time to be up. This was all the proof I needed.

For those of you that really know my personality will completely understand this...when we started talking about conceiving, I knew right away that once we did get pregnant I didn't want to tell anyone until I was out of my first trimester. However, my loving husband is the complete opposite of me. He wanted to tell the entire world right away! I gave in and agreed to tell just our parents and our sisters. We tried to tell them on Saturday the 15th of August but you know when you have something really exciting and want to share, no one is available. Neither families were, so we tried for Sunday. Luckily, we were able to get together with both families this day. We wanted to announce it to our families in a fun and memorable way so we decided what better way than to take a picture of them when we announced?

We went over to my parent's house first (just my mom and dad were there) and made up a lie saying that I needed to take a family picture because I was having my kindergartners make a family project. That way we could all be together. Tanner got ready to take the picture and said, "Okay, say, Ali's pregnant!" Mom, Dad and I were all in the picture and only my dad started saying it. He got as far as "Ali's preg.....". Mom kept smiling and thought it was a joke. Dad was quite confused and too thought it was a joke to get us to smile. They pondered on it a bit, then Tanner had to say, "no, really she is!". I started crying again and then they knew it was for real.

After we left my parent's house, we went to the Brous house to let them all know the good news. Tanner told them the same story about me wanting a picture of the whole family for one of my school projects. I thought for sure that they would have started to think about it and start guessing, since we just went on a cruise this summer and took a bunch of family pictures. Much to my surprise, they weren't suspicious at all. Tanner's mom was actually in the shower, getting all pretty for our picture so we had to wait a bit for her and also for Jessi, she was also primping. Once they all got downstairs, they all got in the picture and I took it this time. I also said, "One, Two, Three, say Ali's pregnant". JD and Paige carried on with a smile, and Stacy and Jessi were a bit confused so I had to say that I really was and had a baby in my tummy!

I love the look on everyone's faces when we took the pictures!

Since my sister and Cameron were not over when we announced it, we told them at dinner, Sunday evening. The night before we went to a wine tasting event and I had to be very creative! I put the glasses of wine to my mouth, without drinking any, then when Lindsey and Cameron weren't looking I would have Tanner chug it. Apparently, I fooled them! When we told them the good news, they didn't have any clue.
